A.J. Hammer is the host of HLN’s evening show, Showbiz Tonight. He is based in CNN’s New York bureau where he has hosted the show since its launch in 2005. A.J. also serves as entertainment anchor for CNN, hosting the network’s daily entertainment reports and live awards show coverage.
A.J. joined HLN AND CNN after hosting Court TV’s crime and justice entertainment show, Hollywood Heat. He began his career at WNBC Radio in New York City at the age of 15 and has covered all facets of the entertainment industry ever since.
As one of VH1’s most recognizable personalities, A.J. hosted the network’s Top Ten Countdown, special events and live awards show coverage as well as a daily music and entertainment show. His radio career includes longtime stints at New York City’s Z100 and WPLJ as well as Sirius Satellite Radio. A.J. has also served as a special correspondent for EXTRA and as an entertainment correspondent for Good Day New York.
A.J. graduated with a degree in philosophy from the University of Hartford and is passionate about several philanthropic causes close to his heart. He has also logged thousands of hours and nautical miles as an avid boater.
David is honored to join with all the caring supporters of the Red Ribbon Foundation for the 2013 Red Ribbon Safe Gala. He appreciates the remarkable accomplishments the organization has been involved in during the almost 20 years in the fight against AIDS. David deeply understands the need for the life changing education that the Red Ribbon Foundation provides to so many around our nation and the world.
Currently, David is the host of Cablevision’s “Meet the Leaders” on Optimum Local’s Channel 84, an interview program talking with Connecticut leaders about local, regional and state wide issues. He conducts similar programs with New York State politicians in that state.
During his more than 20 years on News12 CT, David was seen anchoring the news and co-hosted The Exchange, where he conducted over 20,000 interviews with people of interest to the area from around the region and the world. For more than 21 years, David woke up Fairfield County, as the morning host on 1350 WNLK. Until recently, David was heard on “David Smith’s Exchange” a daily radio talk show on WICC 600. In addition, David’s image and voice can be seen and heard both on television and over the radio airwaves in commercial voiceovers as well as corporate videos.
David Smith has given generously of his time to help out community organizations throughout Fairfield County–among them, Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, The Carver Center, Elderhouse, Positive Directions, Fairfield Prep, Alzheimer’s Association, the Fairfield Historical Society and many more. David hosts corporate events, as well as non-profit fundraisers and benefits, and serves as emcee and auctioneer all over the tri-state area.
David was born and raised in Irvington on Hudson, New York, attended schools in New York and Virginia and college at Princeton University. He lives in Easton with his wife Susanne, daughters Alexis and Taylor, and Chocolate Lab, Chatham.
