Trinity Place, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is Trinity Church’s 10-bed shelter for homeless LBGTQ youth ages 17-24. There are as many as 10,000 LGBTQ youth currently living homeless in NYC and only 250 beds or fewer that are specifically available for this population.LGBTQ youth are statistically at the highest risk for HIV (experiencing a 9% increase in HIV diagnoses for males between 13-29 in 2006-2007, with ¾ related to MSM cases). Residents must follow strict house rules and receive intensive case management and harm reduction workshops during their stay, capped at 1 year (much longer than the 30 day shelter stay common for homeless youth in NY).
